Here's a screen shot of some recent progress:
No time frame yet because of ongoing contract work (have to pay the bills).
The engine I have been playing with seems really solid, but to get water reflection and refraction I need to buy the pro version ($1500).

Hi!
That looks really good indeed!!!
I really hope you soon will find the funds for the new version!
I will be eagerly looking forward to play the new game.
Keep up the good work! _________________ From southern Sweden.

Looks good. I guess I should stop by more often. Any chance flysim 2 will run on a mac (w/o bootcamp)? _________________

I am using the Unity3d engine so the game will run on Mac.
I plan to do a salt water version to start with, but may release a free target casting game just to see how the game runs on different computers.
I have just redone the rod physics - should allow user customization of length and stiffness. |

That all sounds good to me, particularly the new physics. Will the rod rotate around a point like in flysim 1? I'd like to be able to move the player's virtual arms around (particularly raising and lower the rod) to get more control in the sequel but that seems like a difficult thing to get right. _________________

I will try to do that but the controls could get complicated.
Have to figure out reasonable control for stripping too. My brother tells me I have to have stripping for salt water.... |

Absolutely, almost every fly is stripped in while saltwater fishing.
Stripping in the the mouse wheel seems like it would be natural to me.
Stripping out/off line is trickier, because you have to manage line that is off the reel, but not out the guides.
You could possibly double up the spacebar for both stripping out line and shooting it. Or maybe you could strip out the line by pushing the mouse wheel and release/shoot it with the spacebar.
As for lifting the rod it could probably be done by holding a single key or mouse button for those that have more than two. (Which reminds me flysim 2 probably ought to have it's own mouse configuration screen instead of having to use universal settings. I don't know how many times I adjusted my sensitivity back and forth playing flysim 1 but it was a lot.) _________________
