Hello,

I'm addicted to kitesurfing and I'm searching the way you are simulating your kite.

I see that the file "kiteCompData.dat" contains the mesh of the kite (It seems to be
an "Hermite file" with the kite inflatable struts cross sections + spinnaker).
I think you are using a spring system like for cloth simulation with a verlet integration
because in the Readme.txt file you talk about the "Advanced Character Physics" paper.
But what realtime CFD method (or other) are you using to compute the pressure forces
(lift and drag forces)? Is it something like a realtime "Vortex Lattice Method" (VLM)?

My goal is to make a small free game with a board and may be an animated kitesurfer on it!

You made some good guesses.

The kite is a mesh of masses/springs modeled from a kite out of surfplan.
I do use the Verlet integration method.

The aero is pretty simple. I found some lift/drag curves from sail windtunnel data. It only went up to ~15 aoa so I guess the rest. Then I sliced the model up into ~20 chordwise panels and looked up the lift/drag for each panel. The force were applied in a using an example airfoil lift distribution.

Someday I would like to use a Vortex lattice method on the deformed airfoil shapes. But you would still have to guess the stall/post stall data.

Thank you very much... so it seems simple to reproduce
a good kite behavior with your method.

I think I will implement your method this summer after my vacation.

Thanks again,
Dgis
